Local Government Work
Over my thirty-year career, I have held a number of roles within the local government space, both in New Zealand and England.
These roles have included previously mentioned roles on the boards of MOTAT and Waiora Aotearoa Water New Zealand. I consider local government in all its guises to be a fundamental cornerstone of the constitutional arrangements of Aotearoa New Zealand and have been involved in many local government reform processes over the years, both for public and private sector communities including central and local government.
I am very cognisant of the challenges and opportunities that any reform process provides to local government.
I have an in-depth understanding of the machinery of local government, including the unique responsibilities and obligations local authorities operate under. I am often asked to advise on a many complex issues that are highly contentious in the context of the communities within which the issue is occurring.
I have a strong ability to provide an insight into how government entities can engage with the relevant sector to ensure that the best outcomes for are delivered to our communities.
